Most summers for many Californians mean hitting the beach. As gnarly as driving to the beach is, it can quickly go downhill if you don't pack the right essentials for you and your car. Check out this list that we curated for you and your getaway.
What to Bring on a Beach Road Trip
1 - Smartphone
A phone is an obvious one, primarily when most of us use our phones for entertainment. In addition, your phone can come in handy since you'll need to pay close attention to the weather and check tide times.
2 - Shovel
If you bring any tool, make it a shovel. If you end up driving on the beach or in the sand, you'll need to dig your way out. Opt for a foldable shovel to save space in your trunk.
3 - Tire Pressure Gauge
Be prepared to check your tire pressure. It would be best if you always used the gauge before and after the trip to check whether your tires are properly inflated.
4 - Air Pump
Once you are done driving around the beach area, you will most likely need to top off your tires with more air.
5 - Tow Straps and Tow Rope
It is always safe to be prepared for the worst. Just in case you get stuck in the road or on the beach, you'll have these items to ensure that your tow goes smoothly.
6 - Gallons of Water
This item is for you because you will need to stay hydrated in the piping hot sun.
7 - Spare Tire
A spare should always be stowed away in your trunk, regardless of whether you're going to the beach or not. You never know when you are going to need it!
8 - First Aid Kit
A first aid kit is also essential in case of emergencies such as unwanted injuries.
9 - Bucket
With a basic pail, you can build a sandcastle and wet any unwanted sand that may be stuck to your tires.
10 - Extra Gasoline
It is always wise to fuel up before hitting the beach. Bring an extra gallon or two of gas just in case.
Other honorable mentions include a beach umbrella, sunscreen, and a beach chair.
